Plexus holds a unique place in the recruitment market. Our team consists mostly of health professionals who have migrated to Australia and who can draw on their own firsthand experiences in providing expert advice; Australian/New Zealand health professionals who have the local knowledge of employment conditions providing superior candidate/position matching and are experts in the complexity of employing doctors and nurses from overseas, guiding our candidates through the maze of the necessary paperwork.

Dr Berthold Weitkamp FRCA FANZCA

bertieOriginally from Germany, Berthold completed his undergraduate training at the University of Munster before moving to the UK to complete his specialist training in Anaesthetics (FRCA). He then moved to Australia in 1998 and completed a 1-year training post. On his return he worked as a consultant in the north east of England but returned to Australia permanently in 2000. He became a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and now holds a consultant post at a major teaching hospital in Melbourne.

Gillian Emond BSc MCSP

gillGillian is a physiotherapist who comes originally from Scotland. She worked as a department manager in the NHS giving her significant recruitment experience. She emigrated to Australia in 2000 and has worked at the University of Melbourne as a lecturer on the Physiotherapy degree course while also undertaking research towards her  PhD degree. She is thoroughly enjoying her role as MD of Plexus and has overseen our huge rise in popularity amongst candidates and clients.

Cathy Portelli RN

cathyCathy is a Registered Nurse who completed her training in Melbourne, Australia.  After completing her degree she then specialised in Intensive Care Nursing before moving on to Cardio-Thoracic Nursing. She later moved interstate and took on the role of ANUM of a High Dependency Unit in the Private Hospital Sector and over saw the recruitment of new staff to the Unit.  She has gained vast experience in relocating through moves to the U.S.A and Singapore. She now heads the Nursing Recruitment arm of Plexus.

Donna Johnson

donnaOriginally from Sydney, Donna completed her undergraduate degree in Health Services Management and worked in medical recruitment at one of New South Wales metropolitan hospitals. She moved to Melbourne four years ago and continued her career in medical recruitment at one of Victoria's leading teaching hospitals. Donna is the font of all knowledge with all the administrative demands of medical boards and relocation management. She will liase with DIAC on behalf of candidates with any immigration queries and provide the advice received from them back to the candidates so they can make informed decisions about their visas. She will help you organise viewings of houses, bank accounts, tax details, health insurance and all the details that are so important when planning your move. She is also the organiser to all our welcome packs!

Barb Kelly RN

Barb has over 20 years experience as a health professional and Manager working across the non-government, public health and private hospitals and community based sectors giving her a comprehensive understanding of how the respective health services function. As a senior manager in a leading Melbourne health service, she has many years experience in the recruitment of health professionals ranging from nurses to Psychiatry consultants. She joins the Plexus team to lead our specialist Psychiatric recruitment team.

Sally Edwards RN

Sally has had 18 years nursing experience in  both the private and the public sector covering General Nursing, Midwifery, Neonatal Care and Maternal and Child Health Nursing. She has been part of the Plexus team since its launch and despite being part time she is now our "go to"  team member on any number of issues.

Greta Wilson

greetaGreta comes from a background of practice management within the radiology/oncology sphere. She has also worked for some of Australia's leading medical publications so brings to the team a wealth of knowledge in these areas. She is enjoying her recruitment experience and has already shown an aptitude for establishing a strong rapport with both candidates and clients.

Paula Craine

Paula has been an ESL teacher for years. She is also fluent in several languages and assists with translations if required. Paula has relocated many times in her life and has a keen understanding of what our candidates require when they land so has been instrumental in putting together out Welcome package. She is also able to source schools, accommodation, special interest groups across the country.

Julie McDonald

julieJulie is a UK Certified Accountant who also has relocated with her family within Europe and Australia. She has experience in various financial areas including funds management and the not-for-profit sector. She is enjoying her role as Plexus Accounts Manager.
