Internal Medicine Consultant Medical Jobs New Zealand

Live the Clean Green Life NZ Internal Medicine Consultant Job

Join this team of six consultants in modern, well equipped hospital providing the best of medical jobs in New Zealand where you will be joining a team of highly skilled professionals motivated to make a difference. With no registrars, junior doctors are on board who are inspired to learn, and you’re just one they will work closely with.
An on-call commitment on a 1 in 6 frequency will be required as will conducting outpatient clinics, while based predominantly within our 24-bed General Medical Ward working closely with three other physicians.
Generalists, along with any sub-specialty will be considered but respiratory medicine or gastroenterology are particularly in demand.

If you are seeking that combination of a "clean and green" location in which to raise your family, where you can practice the sort of medicine you want to with good collegial support, time allowed for professional development along with time for yourself, New Zealand may be ideal for you.

Located in the South Island, this location offers weather warm enough to swim, sail and surf in the Summer and close proximity to brilliant skiing locations in the Winter. Housing is very affordable, the city is a good size - big enough to provide all the modern facilities including good schools you are looking for and small enough to be safe and friendly.

In the last year this 130 bed hospital serves a population of about 55,000 and last year had:

• 12,000 hospital discharges

• 71,000 outpatient attendances

• 17,500 emergency department attendances

• 68,000 visits to homes and schools

Medical & Specialty Services provided are mainly general medicine with resident sub-specialty interests in gastroenterology, rheumatology and endocrinology. Visiting specialist clinics are also provided in neurology, cardiology, renal medicine and dermatology.

• Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation ward – 24 beds

• Emergency Department

• Intensive and Cardiac Care Unit (level 4-5) – 7 beds

You will be part of a team of 6 Consultants, so although you do not have a Registrar, the demands are not too onerous.  If you have a particular sub-specialty interest, there is plenty of demand, especially in Gastroenterology and Respiratory medicine, so the hospital will do what it can to allow you to practice the type of medicine you want to.

Naturally you must be eligible for registration in New Zealand.  Qualifications and experience from the following countries are very highly regarded: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA
