The Australian and New Zealand college of Anaesthetists have agreed that some training programs are comparable to their own and so Overseas trained anaesthetists who meet their criteria are able to work unsupervised without any further training. However, Medicare provider number (Private Practice) restriction still apply and the overseas trained specialist may have to work in an area of need.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must therefore need to be a PGY3 or above with Anaesthetics experience. Additionally applicants must have or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. A key rural referral hospital is seeking an Intensive Care Medicine Specialist to join their busy team. In this role you will provide quality intensive care services. The candidate will also provide ICU services to high dependency and hospital wards, inlcuidng the rapid response team and trauma response services.
This 160 bed hospital is located in a pretty and economically healthy riverside town of 20,000, with a surrounding regional population of 45,000, 300 km from Sydney. In this position you will be responsible for the clinical leadership of the Intensive care service in a busy rural referral hospital as you work within a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team. A high level of verbal and written communication skills will therefore be required as you interact with patients, families and colleagues of the Intensive Care Unit. The admission and discharge of patients to Intensive Care as well as the coordination of their treatment are key features of the job. A strong commitment to the education and training of Medical, Nursing and Allied health staff will be looked upon favorably. Participation in research activities of the local health district will allow you to make your mark in a key NSW health region. You must also have a willingness to participate in an out-of-hours roster commitments including being at all times accessible by phone when on-call and providing support, assistance and advice to non-specialist Intensive Care medical staff and general hospital staff.
To be eligible for this position you must have:
• MBBS or equivalent primary medical degree, registerable with the Medical Board of Australia
• Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM)

The unit is on the hunt for a new ICU Specialist for the department, who will be responsible for developing the service and supervising and mentoring junior medical staff within the department.
To be eligible for this position, the Specialist will have FRACP or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years experience as a Specialist.
